This weekend’s March For Our Lives in Washington, DC brought out a lot of celebrity support, with artists like Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and more performing for the hundreds of thousands that gathered to protest for better gun control laws.
Demi performed her tune “Skyscraper,” while Miley shared an emotional rendition of “The Climb,” noting “this song has never felt more special.” Ari performed “Be Alright,” while Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt, performed their mashup “Found Tonight,” and Andra Day performed “Rise Up,” and “Stand Up For Something,” with Common
- Jennifer Hudson, who lost her mother, sister and nephew to gun violence, ended the day with a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Times They Are A Changin'.” In an interview with CNN she noted, “It is almost impossible to understand what the victims, the families, are going through, what they feel, or even to be able to relate to a situation like this unless you’ve been in it.” She added, “So for people who are watching . . . know that it can be anybody. It can happen to anybody. To me, the saddest thing is no one ever reacts until it happens to them, and then it’s too late.” Check out some of the performances to the right.
- ONE MORE THING! Demi and Miley go way back and they were certainly happy to be performing together on such a historic occasion. Miley tweeted a photo of them together at the March writing, “Been friends forever & happy to stand with you on important days like this!”
