RECORD STORE DAY:A Handy Guide to Notable Releases

Record Store Day will be celebrated for the 10th year at independent music shops across the country on Saturday. Here's a handy guide of some special vinyl releases you might want to pick up.

David Bowie – BOWPROMO: This is a replica of a seven-song album Bowie's manager, Tony DeFries, sent around in 1971 to get his client a deal.

David Bowie - Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles '74): The triple-record set is a previously unreleased live recording.

The Cars - Live at the Agora, 1978: This previously unreleased show was recorded in Cleveland. It's spread over three sides, with the fourth containing an etching designed by Cars drummer David Robinson.

Cheap Trick - The Epic Archive Volume One: This double-album contains singles, soundtrack songs, non-LP tracks and other rarities with track-by-track notes by Bun E. Carlos.

The Doors - Live at the Matrix '67: This is another concert release available on vinyl for the first time.

Fleetwood Mac - Alternate Mirage: This assembles the alternate versions of the tracks from the Mirage Deluxe Edition CD on vinyl.

Grateful Dead - P.N.E. Garden Auditorium, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 7/29/66: This is the band’s first performance outside of the United States. It was previously released only on CD as the bonus disc for The Grateful Dead (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition).

Elton John - 11-17-70: His breakthrough live album has been expanded and will be available on two 12-inch records.

Paul McCartney - Cassette Demos: This tape contains three demos Paul and Elvis Costello made for Flowers in the Dirt.

Stevie Nicks – Rarities: This 10-inch vinyl contains the bonus tracks from the deluxe reissues of Bella Donna and Wild Heart.

Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes - Live at Jones Beach: This 10-inch single has three tracks from their joint 1999 tour.

Pearl Jam - "State of Love and Trust"/"Breath": This seven-inch single is the first vinyl release for these two cuts from the Singles soundtrack.

Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive: This 12-inch single contains a previously unreleased recording from 1966 that runs close to 15 minutes long.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Go Robot"/"Dreams of a Samurai": This 12-inch picture disc features live versions of two tracks from the band's 2016 album The Getaway.

Rush - Cygnus X-1: This 12-single celebrates the 40th anniversary of the trio's sixth studio album, A Farewell to Kings.

Santana - Live at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair, August 16, 1969: The band’s full Woodstock set hits vinyl for the first time.

Bob Seger - "2+2=?": This 7-inch single is a reissue of Seger's first single on Capitol Records.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Hammersmith Odeon London '75: Springsteen’s first European performance gets released as a four-LP set.

Sting - Live at the Bataclan: This 12-inch has six songs from November 12th, 2016, a concert to mark the first anniversary of the terrorist attack at the Paris venue.

U2 - "Red Hill Mining Town": This 12-inch picture disc features the newly remixed version of the song from the upcoming Joshua Tree reissue.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Carnegie Hall: This is the first time on vinyl for the concert celebrating the guitarist’s 30th birthday.

Neil Young - Decade: Young’s long-out-of-print three-LP best-of set returns to vinyl.
