JUDY GARLAND: Molested by Munchkins

Judy Garland was sexually assaulted on the set of Wizard of Oz, according to her late husband Sid Luft.

The Hollywood icon's third husband blamed the Munchkins in a tell-all book, which was written before he died a decade ago.

He accused the little actors of repeatedly molesting Garland. She was only 16 years old he says, "They would make Judy’s life miserable on set by putting their hands under her dress. They thought they could get away with anything -- because they were so small."

Stories have been shared for decades in Hollywood about their bad behavior, including “orgies to gambling to prostitution.” Though the only living Munchkin denied the gossip saying, "How could you get drunk on $50 a week?"

Judy had disparaging words about the Munchkins. She said 30 years after making the movie, "They were little drunks. They got smashed every night, and the crew picked them up in butterfly nets." (People)

When you watch “The Wizard of Oz,” everyone looks so happy – especially Judy Garland. But if the memoirs of her ex-husband are to be believed, it was only a look.

In case you missed it, Sid Luft, who was her tour manager and film producer, claims in his recent discovered memoir that she was groped by the Munchkins on the set of the iconic movie. He said, “They thought they could get away with anything because they were so small. They would make Judy’s life miserable on set by putting their hands under her dress. The men were 40 or more years old.”

Luft was married to Judy from 1952 to 1965. He started writing the story of their lives together after their divorce. He died without finishing it in 2005. The unfinished book was found among his archives and has now been published as, “Judy and I: My Life with Judy Garland.” The book hits stores on March 1st.
