How to Help Furloughed Employees

With the government shutdown now extending over a month, many Americans are looking for ways that they can help the estimated 800,000 furloughed government workers that are not receiving paychecks.

Below is a list of several ways that you can help!

GoFundMe

You can donate to the GoFundMe page here. Money raised via GoFundMe will be distributed to various nonprofits in their efforts to provide relief to furloughed employees.

Help to Provide Food

Many food banks are accepting donations. Check with your local food bank to see what items are most needed.

You can also donate to World Central Kitchen! Chef Jose Andres is bringing the nonprofit to Washington D.C. and feeding employees. Click here to learn more and donate.

Help Parents

Its easy to forget about simple essentials such as diapers. Luckily, there are plenty of companies that are thinking about it for us! The National Diaper Bank Network and WestSide Baby are currently taking donations for diapers.

Help the National Parks

As we've seen on social medial, our national parks need your help too! You can donate to the National Park Foundation here.

If you're interesting in helping to clean up the parks after the shutdown is over, click here to sign up as a volunteer!
