I’m at a loss for words, so I’ll attempt to form coherent ones. Effective immediately, METAL WORKS is on “indefinite hiatus.”
I just want to thank everyone who has tuned in over the last 5 years since the show returned to the airwaves. Some folks popped in from time-to-time, others made it a weekly tradition. Either way, it always felt like a party, and I was that guy standing by the stereo with a big stack of CDs going, “Oooo, wait, listen to THIS one… and this one… and this one…!” Luckily, everyone at this party liked the same kind of music. OUR music. Classic Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. The kind of music that just does not get the respect it deserves.
I don’t want to get your hopes up (or mine), but it’s called a “hiatus” versus “cancellation” because I was told there's always the chance the show could come back at some point in the future. I promise, I will do everything I can to make that happen and be ready to do so if told that it can. The hardest part for me is that I don’t get to do a closing show. A final show. A last hurrah. I don’t get to say “thank you” to all of you on-air.
I’m keeping the Facebook / Twitter / Instagram pages up and going so we can all stay in touch, and so you’ll know something IF the show is ever able to return. Plus, I’ll be sure to post videos, pics, etc. and occasional ramblings of my strange mind. I hope you’ll stick around!
For now, I’m going to go lick my wounds, put away the random stacks of CDs strewn about my office and home, try to enjoy having some free time back in my life, and try to limit saying “Damn, I wish I could play (insert song title here) for everyone!” to once a day. That last one will be the most difficult.
Play hard. \m/
