Some were great. Some were embarrassing. But all left us wanting more, and drove us to the record stores to pick up the LPs, cassettes, or (for the rich kids) the CDs that the songs came from. They were music videos. And they ruled the world.
I've picked a few of the videos of songs from this past Saturday's METAL WORKS (just click here to check out the full playlist). You probably saw these back in the day on Miscellaneous Television or Much Music or Night Flight or Friday Night Videos, etc. etc.
**Some of the video quality on these aren't great, but I tried to find the best version of each for your trip down memory lane.**
Let's get things going with DOKKEN and our first video/song of two to feature the guitar wizardry of GEORGE LYNCH... "Just Got Lucky" off 84's Tooth And Nail.
THE CULT from 1987's Electric with "Wildflower."
QUEENSRYCHE with "Breaking The Silence" from 88's Operation: Mindcrime.
Part of the live performance of DAVID COVERDALE and ADRIAN VANDENBERG at EMI Records in Tokyo, September 9th, 1997, here's "Love Ain't No Stranger." It can be found on the WHITESNAKE release Starkers In Tokyo.
PANTERA with the title track off 1990's Cowboys From Hell.
STRYPER with "Free" off To Hell With The Devil.
Featuring Tawny Kitaen, cameos by NIKKI SIXX and TOMMY LEE (as Police officers!), and Milton Berle... here's RATT with "Back For More" from 84's Out Of The Cellar.
And something new from the band ULTRAPHONIX, featuring LIVING COLOUR vocalist COREY GLOVER, and former DOKKEN guitarist GEORGE LYNCH. This is "Walk Run Crawl" from their album Original Human Music which comes out August 3rd.
Again, to check out the full playlist from this week's show, just click here. And be sure to tune in every Saturday night at 9pm cst for two hours(ish) of Classic Metal and Hard Rock. OUR music. OUR show. METAL WORKS.
