Another Tennessee County Lifts Mask Mandate

You will not have to wear a mask in public in Sumner County anymore.

Sumner County Mayor Anthony Holt announced that he will allow the local executive order mandating face coverings in public to expire tonight at midnight.

In the open letter to the community, he states

I am encouraged by the declining number of COVID cases in our community as well as the number of citizens who are choosing to become vaccinated.

He later takes the time to encourage local citizens to remain following CDC best practices

While the mask mandate is being lifted, I strongly encourage all citizens to follow the advice of medical experts by continuing to practice social distancing, washing your hands, and wearing face coverings in places where it is not possible to exercise social distancing.

Students and teachers in school buildings will also no longer be required to wear masks, but private businesses can still create whatever rules they'd like when it comes to face coverings.

Most counties have allowed local mask mandates to expire, including Rutherford, Robertson, Williamson, Wilson, and Montgomery Counties. Davidson County and Metro Nashville's mask mandate is still in effect until June, at least for now.
