Styx is back with a new concept album!
Their first LP since "Crash of the Crown", "Circling From Above" is set for release on July 18th, and the CD and vinyl copies are available to purchase now on StyxWorld.com.
The band released a new single "Build and Destroy," which Tommy Shaw, took a lead creative role on,
"You're writing about your experiences in your life and things that you love and enjoy, or things that were hard to go through and that sort of thing," he said. "So you're just really just writing a book in little sections like that."
Circling From Above is 41-minutes long of 13-songs, written by some combination of Shaw, producer Will Evankovich and singer/keyboardist Lawrence Gowan.
"I guess we just stumbled upon a way of doing it," Shaw said. "Will and I, we've been writing songs together for you know for 10, 15 years. When we get one that we like – Will's a lot more organized than I am, but he'll put it on a hard drive. So we had amassed a whole bunch of songs."
Styx hit the road this summer with Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon and former Eagle Don Felder.
