Today Is Tequila Day!

It's National Tequila Day!

We are celebrating with a little lime and salt, and mixing up a Margarita, Paloma, or a Mamasita! Tequila's been around for centuries, as it was once known as mezcal wine, but mezcal isn't actually Tequila. Tequila is distilled from agave, and is protected in its production. In the 16th century, Cortez came to North American and introduced copper stills to distill the mezcal wine. That would lead to Tequila, in Jalisco, Mexico, where they distilled Blue Agave, which provides the nectar to distill Tequila.

Blue Agave grows in unique conditions, and there are laws in Mexico, to protect the production of Tequila. Tequila is only Tequila if made in Jalisco, and the same ingredients distilled anywhere else is not Tequila.

Today Tequila is enjoyed in margaritas or tequila sunrise, and is savored like a good whiskey. Now head out to your favorite bar, sit down with some friends, and drink it straight as a shot or mix it for something fun. It's National Tequila Day, just sit back, relax, and enjoy.
