American Airlines Resumes Inflight Alcohol Sales

More than two years after it went dry, American Airlines on Monday resumed selling alcohol to its passengers.

People on flights traveling at least 250 miles can once again purchase beer, wine and hard alcohol, while passengers in first class and on international flights can get plastered for free, the airline has revealed.

Although American officials considered bringing back alcohol sales last year, a surge of unruly passengers caused them to rethink the move. More than 5,000 incidents involving violent passengers have been reported this year alone, according to officials.

Why do airlines serve alcohol in the first place? Is the practice a good idea?
