Japanese schools have had a “white-only underwear” policy for a while, and now they’ve introduced a new rule for grade-schoolers to follow. Female students are now banned from wearing their hair in ponytails because the “nape of their necks” could “sexually excite” male students.

It doesn’t stop with just rules on ponytails and underwear color. Schools in Japan enforce other restrictions like the color of children’s socks, skirt length, the shape of their eyebrows, and if a student’s hair isn’t “black or straight,” they must show proof that it’s their natural hair color.
