Bus Passenger Accidentally Sets Himself on Fire

A bus passenger in Nebraska is behind bars after he accidentally set himself -- and the bus -- on fire, authorities say.

The incident occurred in York over the weekend when a 33-year-old Georgia resident used the bathroom in a traveling Burlington Trailways bus to smoke drugs, according to the Sheriff's Office. Somehow, the unidentified man set himself on fire, which quickly spread to other items in the bathroom, a sheriff's spokesman says. The driver pulled over onto the shoulder of Interstate 80 and the bus was evacuated, authorities say. Firefighters arrived soon after and extinguished the blaze.

After the man was treated for upper body burns, he was arrested on suspicion of arson and possession of a controlled substance, sheriff's records reveal. A rep for Burlington says the man caused an estimated $1,500 in damage to the bus.
