Woman Beaten, Robbed For Wearing Mask In New York Family Dollar Store

Dollar Tree To Acquire Family Dollar Stores For $8.5 Billion

A woman who went shopping at a Family Dollar store in Hilton, New York, says she was punched in the face, then robbed by four teenagers, because she was wearing a respirator mask.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Family Dollar store in the Village of Hilton on March 23. When deputies arrived, the victim said a group of people had confronted her in the store and began hassling her because she was wearing a respirator mask while inside. The group repeatedly accused her of being infected with coronavirus.

The victim told deputies that as she walked out of the store, she was punched in the face by multiple people. Some of those people then allegedly stole her wallet and keys before running away.

The four suspects jumped in a car and drove away, but deputies were able to catch up with them with the help of Ogden Police.

Police arrested four suspects, Rocco Gingello, 18, Alexis Gingello, 19, Taya O'Connor, 18, and Nicholas Henderson, 19. All four were charged with second-degree felony robbery. Henderson was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and several driving charges.

All four suspects were arraigned in Parma Town Court last week and released for a court appearance scheduled for a later date.
