Mercedes-Benz is recalling around 750,000 cars because the vehicles' sunroof could detach and fly off while the car is moving. The recall includes the Mercedes C-Class, E-Class, CLK-Class and the CLS-Class vehicles made between 2001 and 2011.
The recall impacts vehicles with an optional sunroof. The automakers said that the bonding agent used to attach the sunroof could deteriorate over time and result in the glass breaking off. This could result in road hazards and cause an accident. It is unclear if there are any reports of a sunroof detaching from a moving car.
Mercedes-Benz said they will reach out to vehicle owners after February 14 and schedule an inspection. If the sunroof needs to replaced, the car company will do so free of charge.
