Heart Announces Reunion, Summer Tour with Joan Jett and Sheryl Crow

For Nancy and Ann Wilson the questions about their future with Heart were more when their reunion would take place than if.

Now we finally now the answer is this summer.

Tickets go on sale this Friday for the 39-city Love Alive tour, which begins July 9 in St. Louis, Missouri. The tour, named for a track off Heart's 1977 hit album Little Queen, will be a celebration of women in rock, featuring Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, Lucie Silvas and Elle King on select dates.

"I think the tour will spark some positive energy as we rediscover some of our iconic songs and also some fan favorites," Nancy said via a news release. "Calling the tour 'Love Alive' was something Ann and I felt instantly good about. We have always had many love-themed mottos along the way like 'Love Rules,' 'Love Wins,' 'Love Is It' — and, of course, ['Love Alive' is] a very cool song as well."

The sisters had been nearly inseparable for their entire Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career until an ugly incident towards the end of their last tour together in the summer of 2016.

People close to the siblings said the distance of their estrangement was hard on both of them. While the sisters addressed their issues sparingly in press over the past years, both expressed hope for a reconnection when the time was right.

"The thing to do is go forward and be positive and stay as affirmative about everything as possible," Nancy told Billboard in 2017 while promoting her album with Roadcase Royale, a band featuring members of Heart and former members of Prince's live band.

Things began looking better last September when Ann revealed to Q104.3 New York's Jim Kerr and Shelli Sonstein that she and Nancy had plans to get together and discuss their relationship and the future of Heart.

Ann added that she would only agree to bring back Heart if the band could do it in "a fresh, cool way."

"Heart was conceived in an atmosphere of idealism," she said. "That's how it has to be re-conceived now for me to be interested in doing it. So it's possible."

Ann will be performing live at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City on Wednesday night. You can watch her set live right here.
