The Tennessee Highway Patrol is heightening traffic enforcement over Memorial Day weekend in a bid to prevent deaths and injuries on the highways. Last year, 10 people were killed in crashes during the THP's 78-hour holiday enforcement period, four fewer than in 2012.

And, T-DOT will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at noon today (5/23) through 6 a.m. next Tuesday. This will provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists expected to travel in the state this Memorial Day weekend.
